Roof Replacement Photo Album: Storm Damaged Roof Replacement in Ray City, GA

Back in December 2024, homeowner Diane F. needed an emergency roof replacement and called the Roofing experts, MVW Roofing. Diane was unfortunate enough to have a tree come down and penetrate through her roof during a heavy thunderstorm, collapsing the center section of her home. This impact caused major structural damages to the roof an the inside of her home. Once on site, we started inspecting the damages to the interior of the home first. We wanted to asses the inside destruction to see how bad the integral damage really was. To say the very least, the damages were so extreme, we needed to act fast. From there, we made are way to the roof to inspect how much of the roof was compromised. Due to the size of the tree, this was not a situation where we could just repair the broken roofing. The tree went through the shingles, decking and broke several structural beams. This not only is a major in convince to Diane but is an unsafe environment to be in. One of the larger issues is the affect it has on the electrical. When a tree of this size penetrates, it neutralizes everything in its path. Luckily for Diane, we have seen this situation before and are prepared to assist in every way possible and provide ay recommendations that are outside our area of expertise.

This is the direct result of the tree that came down and hit Diane's roof. This caused not only damage to the roof, decking, and structural beams but made its way into the home and collapsed the ceiling.

The lighting was knocked lose

Due to the impact of the tree, the ceiling fan was about to detach from the ceiling. The homeowner needs to get an electrician out immediately. If untreated, this will can turn into a major fire hazard and threaten the home's well-being.

We continued to find areas of the home that were impacted by the fallen tree.

Let the healing begin

We needed to secure the roof as best as we could until we can get started on the roof replacement process. We added a full tarping to keep any moisture out.

Removal of the old shingles

We started the project of removing all the aged and weathered asphalt shingles. Next is on to the inspection of the decking & insulation.

Decking is severely damaged

Once the shingles removed, there wasn't much we could salvage. Our installers ended up replacing all of the decking due to its age and condition.

Adding new decking & new insulation

We noticed that between the decking and the shingles, the previous contractor didn't use any underlayment. This is a key part of the roof replacement and Klaus Larsen step by step process. In Georgia, we don't normally see much ice but adding a water & ice barrier will only help protect the home the way it should be. Adding that extra layer of protection!

Replacing the damaged beams

New Decking being installed

With the new decking and underlayment, this is starting to look like a roof again!

Underlayment is completely installed

We are ready to add the ice & moisture barrier. Once we complete that, its the new shingles next.
