MVW Roofing replaced an entire roof for a homeowner in Lake Park, GA. The project began with our team carefully removing the existing roofing to reveal the underlying wood structure. We conducted a thorough inspection of the wood decking and found areas that had been affected by rot and damage. These sections were promptly replaced with high-quality materials—either CDX plywood or OSB plywood of 1/2" thickness, depending on the specific needs of the structure. We also replaced any damaged deck boards and fascia wood to ensure a sturdy foundation for the new roof.
Once the foundation was secure, we moved forward by installing a synthetic felt underlayment on the remaining wood. This layer serves as an extra barrier against moisture and is crucial for extending the life of the roof.
Next, we installed aluminum drip metal along all the eaves of the roof deck. This metal flashing prevents water from seeping under the shingles and causing damage to the wood structure beneath. It’s an essential feature for protecting the integrity of the home.
For added protection, we installed brand-new vent pipe boot flashings wherever needed. These flashings provide a tight seal around vent pipes to prevent leaks, a key part of ensuring that the roof functions properly. Additionally, if the chimney required it, we replaced the chimney flashing as well, offering further reinforcement against water infiltration.
With the protective elements in place, we began the process of installing the new shingles. We chose high-quality, three-tab shingles that were carefully layered to provide both durability and aesthetic appeal. These shingles not only offer long-lasting protection, but they also complement the home’s appearance with their classic, clean design.
To maximize ventilation, we installed ridge vents on all the ridges of the roof, if required. These vents help regulate airflow and prevent the buildup of moisture, ensuring that the attic stays dry and well-ventilated, which helps prolong the lifespan of the roof.
The final touch was the installation of ridge caps, which we placed along the roof’s peaks to provide both a finished look and extra protection against the elements. These caps are designed to seal the roof's ridges, preventing any water from entering the home.
As the project wrapped up, our team made sure to thoroughly clean the site and haul away all roofing debris, leaving the homeowner with a pristine, newly renovated roof that will last for years to come.
With the roof replacement complete, the home is now better protected from the elements, with enhanced curb appeal and improved functionality—ready for whatever weather comes its way.
